Several players who were frequent fixtures in media trade rumors were not moved as expected by Friday's trade deadline. Here's a look at the most noteworthy among them and why they weren't traded.

    Jacob Markstrom, G, Calgary Flames

The Hockey News' Steve Macfarlane reports Markstrom was close enough to getting dealt last month that he was asked to waive his no-movement clause. He anticipates general manager Craig Conroy will revisit that idea during the summer.

The New Jersey Devils were close to a Markstrom deal, but it ultimately fell through. The Athletic's Mark Lazerus cited the Flames' high asking price among the reasons he's still in Calgary. It sets the stage for an off-season of speculation over Markstrom's future in the Stampede City.

Pavel Buchnevich, LW, St. Louis Blues

Rumors had Buchnevich heading for a reunion with the New York Rangers. Instead, he remains with the Blues, probably because of their high asking price for the 28-year-old winger.

The Hockey News' Lou Korac reported GM Doug Armstrong claimed the market for his players “wasn't there.” He also indicated that he's open to exploring a contract extension with the winger's representatives this summer.

    Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins

Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli claimed the Bruins appeared to have a deal in the works to ship Ullmark to the Los Angeles Kings. The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa reported Bruins GM Don Sweeney and Ullmark's agent declined to say whether the 30-year-old goaltender invoked his 16-team no-trade clause. However, Sweeney indicated he wasn't actively shopping Ullmark and was happy to keep his goalie tandem intact.

    Jakob Chychrun, D, Ottawa Senators

Chychrun's name resurfaced in the rumor mill when defensemen such as Noah Hanifin, Chris Tanev, and Ilya Lyubushkin came off the trade market. The Hockey News' Steve Warne noted that Senators GM Steve Staios said his conversations with other clubs may have planted seeds for off-season deals.

Staios didn't indicate if those deals might include Chychrun. The blueliner could become a summer trade candidate if the two sides fail to agree on a contract extension.
