TORONTO - The National Hockey League suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere for two games Tuesday.

Briere bodychecked an unsuspecting opponent in the second period of a 5-4 loss to Colorado on Monday night. The hit on Scott Hannan was delivered immediately after the Avs defenceman scored at 9:06 of the frame.

Briere will forfeit US$67,357.52 and will be eligible to return for Saturday's game at Atlanta.
