NHL must go to Sochi

Erik Paul, Calgary

Dear Mr. Bettman, the gold medal game this Olympics has proven, without a doubt, the NHL needs to go to Sochi in 2014.

Stop worrying about bringing in new fans and consider that if you tell your current fans they don't deserve this kind of hockey, you will lose fans, period.

Dear Sidney Crosby, thank you for your gold medal-winning goal. If you come out now and say that you are going to Sochi whether or not the NHL allows it, they'll have no choice but to go.

And the fans who desperately want to see another Olympics with NHL players will be rewarded for their loyalty.

I hope you'll consider doing this.
