NHL Notebook: Flames recall Brandon Prust from Omaha of AHL

Prust, 22, had four goals, four assists and 50 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights. The five-foot-11 winger went scoreless with 18 penalty minutes in seven games with Calgary earlier this season.

A third-round pick of the Flames in 2004, Prust led the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights and finished fifth in the AHL with 294 penalty minutes last season.

Senators reassign Bois to Binghamton after emergency recall

OTTAWA (CP) - The Ottawa Senators reassigned forward Danny Bois to Binghamton of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Bois, 23, was recalled on an emergency basis Wednesday to replace Daniel Alfredsson, who will miss the next seven-to-10 days with a leg injury. Bois recorded one shot and seven penalty minutes in the 6-2 loss to Washington.

Bois has eight goals, five assists and 36 penalty minutes in 17 games with Binghamton this season.

Islanders call up forward Comeau from Bridgeport on emergency basis

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CP) - Forward prospect Blake Comeau was recalled Thursday by the New York Islanders on an emergency basis.

Comeau was summoned from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League after injuries to Alexei Yashin and Trent Hunter left the Islanders shorthanded up front. Comeau, 20, was scheduled to make his NHL debut Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens.

Comeau, a second-round pick in 2004, is second on the Sound Tigers with 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 23 games.

Islanders head coach Ted Nolan said Comeau will Thursday's game on the fourth line.

"Everything after that will depend on how Blake performs," said Nolan.

Comeau's stay could be an extended one, with Hunter expected to miss two-to-four weeks with a sprained knee.

Avalanche activate veteran forward Turgeon; assign McCormick to AHL

DENVER (CP) - The Colorado Avalanche activated Pierre Turgeon from the injured list Thursday after the veteran forward missed the first 27 games of the season recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.

Turgeon, 37, is expected to make his season debut Thursday night when the Avalanche visit the San Jose Sharks.

To make room, Colorado reassigned forward Cody McCormick to Albany of the American Hockey League. McCormick, 23, had one assists in six games for the Avalanche.
