Nick Bonino finally solves Jonas Hiller with incredible top-shelf snipe

Nick Bonino was a big piece of the trade that sent Ryan Kesler from Vancouver to Anaheim, but Bonino hasn't had near the impact on the Canucks' first-round series that Kesler had on the Ducks'. In Game 5, however, with Vancouver desperately needing to find a way to solve Calgary Flames netminder Jonas Hiller, Bonino sent a perfect shot blazing into the top corner.

Calgary's first-round series against the Vancouver Canucks has been the Jonas Hiller show as the Flames netminder has stopped just about everything that has come his way through four games. In order to beat Hiller, the Canucks shooters have had to be near perfect. That's exactly what Nick Bonino's second period tally was.

First, the Canucks gained the zone and worked a strong cycle before Radim Vrbata put a perfect pass right in Bonino's wheelhouse. Without hesitation, Bonino unloaded with a seeing-eye slapper that came out of the net faster than it went in. Hiller had absolutely no chance:

Through the first four games of the series, Bonino had only mustered two assists. He was one of the key pieces in the trade that sent Ryan Kesler to Anaheim, and as the Ducks ripped through the Winnipeg Jets thanks in large part to the contributions from Kesler, the Canucks were waiting for Bonino to step up in their first round series.

The goal by Bonino was a big one, too, as the Flames were leading the game 1-0 at the time of his goal. In a series the Canucks are trailing 3-1, getting the offense going is going to be of paramount importance if Vancouver stands any chance of playing a sixth and seventh game.
