Oilers hoping to end Sharks' home suceess

Edmonton (12-11-2) at San Jose (22-3-1) 10:30 p.m. EST

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers may be the

perfect team to end the San Jose Sharks' amazing home run.

The Oilers try to hand the Sharks their first regulation loss at

HP Pavilion this season when the teams face off on Saturday.

San Jose is an NHL-best 14-0-1 at home, winning each of its last

five games there since a 4-3 overtime loss to the Nashville

Predators on November 11.

The Sharks are on a nine-game winning streak overall, its

longest since a franchise high 11-game surge from February 21 to

March 14, 2008. That run, however, came to a screeching halt

when Edmonton forged a 2-1 overtime win at HP Pavilion on March

The Oilers have won nine of the last 13 meetings with San Jose,

including taking three of four last season.

Edmonton enters this matchup after escaping with a 5-4 shootout

victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.

The Oilers got off to a quick start, claiming a 3-0 lead in the

first period. But, the Kings bounced back with four unanswered

goals in the second to take the lead.

Dustin Penner notched his sixth goal 8:23 into the third period

to tie the score and Ales Hemsky recorded the decisive goal in

the third round of the shootout as the Oilers earned

back-to-back wins.
