Free Agent Frenzy continues to roll along.

The Edmonton Oilers added some extra punch to their forward corps, agreeing to terms with forward Connor Brown on a one-year contract extension worth $775,000 in base salary and an extra $3.25 million in potential performance bonuses.

The deal is a savvy piece of cap gymnastics, as Brown will only count for $775,000 for this season, and, in the event he hits his performance bonuses and the Oilers are at the salary cap, some of that extra $3.25 million will be pushed to 2024-25 as a cap overage.

It's a good bet on a formerly productive middle-six winger. Brown is coming off a torn ACL that limited him to just four games in 2022-23, making this contract something of a risk.

When healthy, though, Brown is good for roughly 30 to 40 points per season, heading to Edmonton with career highs of 21 goals and 43 points and history as an effective penalty-killer.

If he's not still feeling the effects of his ACL surgery, Brown could be precisely what the Oilers need to surround their duo of superstars with at a very reasonable price.

Stay tuned. More signings will continue to roll in as the day chugs along.
