Oilers start short road trip in LA

Edmonton (11-11-2) at Los Angeles (10-11-3), 10:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Before spending over a month in Canada,

the Edmonton Oilers have to make a quick stop in California.

Shawn Horcoff and the Oilers will attempt to hand the Los

Angeles Kings their third straight loss on Friday.

Edmonton will visit the San Jose Sharks on Saturday and will not

play in the United States again until January 13. The Oilers

will play just three road contests - two in Vancouver and one in

Calgary - over that 15-game stretch.

Horcoff scored 71 seconds into the game Wednesday as the

Edmonton Oilers held on for a 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars

at Rexall Place.

"We have a lot of games coming up at home," Horcoff said.

"Especially with us going on the road for a pair before we have

a pretty good little stretch at home, it was important to

finally get a win in this building and get ourselves back to


The Kings have lost six of their previous nine contests.

Alexander Frolov and rookie Oscar Moller each had a goal as Los

Angeles suffered a 4-2 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.

Frolov leads the team with 10 goals and Anze Kopitar has a

club-best 13 assists and 18 points.
