Ottawa Senators sign Connecticut Huskies standout sophomore Cole Schneider
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators have signed Connecticut Huskies sophomore Cole Schneider to a two-year entry level deal.
The forward will report to the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators.
The undrafted forward got Ottawa's attention with a record-setting season at UConn.
The 21-year-old American set single-season Huskies records for goals with 23 and points with 45.
The Huskies' season ended Sunday when they lost to Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Association quarter-finals.
"It's really hard to leave the guys on the team, but in the end I had to do what's best for me," Schneider said on UConn's website. "Growing up, you dream of playing pro hockey and now I get to live that dream."
