Ottawa Senators sign winger Ryan Shannon to a one-year contract

OTTAWA - Winger Ryan Shannon signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators, the club announced Friday.

Shannon has five goals and 11 assists in 55 games for the Senators this season.

Last season Shannon posted career highs with eight goals, 12 assists and 20 points.

The native of Darien, Conn., was acquired by Ottawa from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenceman Lawrence Nycholat on Sept. 2, 2008.

In 170 career NHL games, he has scored 20 goals and 40 assists and recorded 48 penalty minutes.
