Ovechkin, Capitals aim for fourth straight victory

Los Angeles (21-21-7) at Washington (33-15-4), 7:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Alex Ovechkin has his fair share of

accomplishments in the NHL, and the reigning Hart Trophy winner

is on the verge of achieving another goal.

Ovechkin will be seeking his 200th career goal as the Washington

Capitals aim for their fourth straight victory when they host

the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

The 23-year-old All-Star has also netted the most goals of any

player in the NHL since 2005-06. Atlanta Thrashers captain Ilya

Kovalchuk is second with 167.

The superstar failed to scored the goal needed to reach the

milestone in Washington's 5-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils

on Tuesday, but he did notch two assists to push his points

total to 67.

Los Angeles, which is one of only two teams (along with the San

Jose Sharks) to have held Ovechkin goal-less in his career, is

coming off a 1-0 triumph over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.

Rookie netminder Jonathan Quick made 29 saves to secure his

third shutout of the season and the Kings bounced back from a

4-3 setback to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
