Ovechkin, Capitals hope to keep rolling

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals are

becoming as unstoppable as Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin and the Capitals will seek their fourth straight win

Tuesday when they square off against the Buffalo Sabres.

The reigning Hart Trophy winner, Ovechkin netted a pair of goals

during Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brooks Laich also had two goals and Nicklas Backstrom had two

assists for Washington, which has won eight of its last nine

games.

The 23-year-old Ovechkin has five goals and six points over the

current winning streak. The Russian superstar leads the

Capitals with 23 goals and 47 points this season.

The Sabres managed to avoid a fourth straight loss with

Saturday's 4-3 shootout triumph over the New York Islanders.

Before winning in the bonus format, Buffalo squandered a

two-goal lead in the final 30 seconds of regulation.

Ales Kotalik had two assists before opening the shootout with a

goal for the Sabres, who are 6-3-2 over their previous 11

contests.
