Over 1.4 million viewers tune in to watch Ottawa advance to Cup final

The Senators advanced Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final. The audience on CBC averaged 1.401 million viewers, according to Nielsen Research numbers released by the network Tuesday. The broadcast peaked with 2.029 million viewers during the overtime period. Overall, the series averaged 1.682 million viewers.

The Vancouver Canucks' Game 7 win over the Dallas Stars brought CBC its biggest audience of the playoffs so far.

An average of 2.005 million viewers tuned in for Vancouver's 4-1 win in the Western Conference quarter-final.
