Friday has six exciting matchups for hockey fans to enjoy and gives us a limited amount of opportunities to look out for another addition to our Pad Stacking Challenge.
If you haven’t been reading our content over the past few days, our new betting challenge uses the concept of building our bank and rolling over our profits. We do this by stacking our winnings through well-researched picks given out daily that will hopefully build our bank.
If you’ve been involved with the challenge over the past few days, we rolled our initial $10 into $219 before being downed thanks to Quinton Byfield failing to secure a point against the Sharks in a surprising low-scoring game.
We look to bounce back today and begin the climb once again with a pick from the night’s most exciting matchup between the Avalanche and Oilers.
All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.
Bet: Zach Hyman anytime goal (+105)
It doesn’t happen too often where an offense led by Connor McDavid gets shut out but that’s exactly what happened when the Oilers ran into Jake Oettinger and the Dallas Stars, who rolled through Edmonton for a 5-0 win.
The Oilers will want to bounce back but face a tough matchup against Colorado. The Avalanche may seem like a daunting matchup but they can be a very different team on the road. They rep a 19-15-5 road record which isn’t bad but have seventh-most goals allowed with 131 that is tied with the Islanders.
Edmonton is lethal when at home with the second-most home goals at 146 in 36 games but is 12 goals behind the first-place team being the Avalanche who’ve scored 158 goals at Ball Arena.
The Oilers are facing the Avs where they want to and should be able to hold them at bay with their underrated home defense that ranks seventh-best in goals against average with 2.64 at home.
Tonight feels like a game Edmonton will control and explode offensively which means likely a good night for Zach Hyman. The Toronto native leads the Oilers in goals with 52 this season and is second-place in the league when it comes to goals in home games 34 which is just one fewer than Toronto’s Auston Matthews total of 35 this season.
Connor McDavid has been the biggest factor to Hyman’s success as his centre and has been on a heater dishing the puck with 25 assists in his last 17 games and is just three assists away from being the fourth player all-time to finish with over 100 assists.
