Panthers aim to close road trip with win
Florida (14-13-3) at Carolina (14-12-5) 7:00 p.m. EST
RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Florida hit a slight bump in
the road its last time out. It still may not have been enough
to stop the Panthers' surge.
The Panthers look to bounce back from a loss when they wrap up
their five-game road trip against the Carolina Hurricanes on
Thursday.
Florida has won six of its last eight games, including three
straight to open its swing before dropping a 5-3 decision to the
Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
Rookie Michael Frolik and defensemen Nick Boynton and Jay
Bouwmeester each netted a goal for the Panthers, who tallied
twice in the opening 6:50 of the contest before the Canucks
scored four unanswered goals in the second period.
Frolik has two goals and seven assists in his last nine games
for Florida, which had a five-game road win streak come to end
against Vancouver, surrendering as many goals as it had in its
previous three games combined.
The Hurricanes rebounded from a pair of shootout losses during
its last game, claiming a 3-2 victory over the Montreal
Canadiens.
Eric Staal had two power-play goals for Carolina, which scored
all three of its goals with a man-advantage and had a
season-high 11 power plays.
