Pekka Rinne, Devan Dubnyk & (likely winner) Carey Price are this year's Vezina Trophy finalists

The NHL announced Friday the finalists for its Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie: Montreal's Carey Price, Nashville's Pekka Rinne and Minnesota's Devan Dubnyk. Price is considered the favorite – not just for the Vezina, but also the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player.

The NHL continued Friday its slow reveal of finalists for the league's individual awards, announcing Montreal's Carey Price, Nashville's Pekka Rinne and Minnesota's Devan Dubnyk as this year's top three vote-getters for the Vezina Trophy.

The 27-year-old Price finished the season ranked first among NHL goalies in wins (44), goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.933), and was second in shutouts (9). All of those numbers were career-bests for the B.C. native. The 32-year-old Rinne finished second in wins (41), third in G.A.A. (2.18) and seventh in SP (.923). The 28-year-old Dubnyk had an amazing run with the Wild after playing 19 games of the season in Arizona and wound up finishing second in G.A.A. (2.07) and SP (.929), and sixth in wins (36), but many voters likely were swayed by his 39 games with Minnesota, in which he posted a 27-9-2 record, 1.78 G.A.A. and .936 SP.

For much of the year, Price and Rinne were considered frontrunners for the best goalie award, but Nashville's late-season swoon (which included a five-game losing skid for Rinne that ran from late February to early March) has made Price the odds-on favorite. If Price does win the Vezina, it would be the first of his eight-year NHL career. And he's seen as the best bet to take home the Hart Trophy.
