Penguins' Evgeni Malkin misses Capitals game with undisclosed illness

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin sat out against the Washington Capitals because of an undisclosed illness.

Malkin participated in the morning skate Tuesday, then was on the ice for the first few minutes of the pre-game warmup before going to the dressing room. The team did not reveal any other details.

Malkin missed five consecutive games and seven of eight with a bruised right foot before returning to score a goal Saturday in Pittsburgh's 4-3 overtime victory over Atlanta.
