Phaneuf hit not part of hockey

Bruce L. Hecht, New Hyde Park

Dion Phaneuf’s illegal hit on Kyle Okposo was deserving of a suspension, but the NHL's reaction was to "look the other way."

I'm sure if a certain player on Pittsburgh received the same blind-side hit Okposo received, the suspension would have been almost immediately doled out.

I love the sport, but I cannot accept the cheap, sneaky, uncalled-for antics that are allowed to drag hockey through the mud.
