Philadelphia rookie defenseman Luca Sbisa to remain with club

When the Philadelphia Flyers suit up for their ninth game Tuesday, 18-year-old defenseman Luca Sbisa will be with them.

Playing in the game means the first year of Sbisa's entry-level contract will count.

"He's here and he's helping our team and unless something happens that drastically changes that in the next 24 hours, it's going to stay that way for the foreseeable future," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said.

Sbisa was the Flyers' first-round pick, 19th overall in the June entry draft. The six-foot-two, 190-pound Swiss defender has two assists in eight games.
