Phoenix Coyotes beef up on blue-line by recalling bruising D Nolan Yonkman

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes have recalled bruising defenceman Nolan Yonkman and sent defenceman Garrett Stafford down to their AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

Yonkman, 29, played 50 career games with Washington, scoring one goal with seven assists after the Capitals selected him in the second round of the 1999 NHL draft.

The six-foot-six, 247-pound Yonkman played 12 games for San Antonio without notching a point this year and spent last season with the Milwaukee Admirals.

Stafford was recalled on Nov. 11 and didn't register a point in the two games he played.
