Player of the Week - Dec. 13

The Hockey News player of the week for the period of Dec. 6-12 is San Jose Sharks left winger Ryane Clowe.

The Sharks played four games on the week and Clowe was a key contributor in all of them. First up was a key conference matchup in Detroit against the first place Red Wings. Clowe played 18:32 of ice time and recorded two assists in San Jose’s 5-2 win.

Two nights later in Philadelphia the Sharks pulled out a 5-4 shootout win. Clowe’s minutes dipped to 16:05, but he still managed to score a goal and an assist with four shots.

The next night, San Jose was in Buffalo finishing off a five-game road trip. The Sharks lost 6-3 to finish the trip 3-2-0. Clowe added two more assists and one power play point in 17:25 of ice time in the loss.

Finally, back at home against Chicago Saturday night, the Sharks pulled off a 2-1 overtime win. Clowe played more than 20 minutes for the sixth time this season and recorded both goals for the Sharks.

Clowe has nine goals and 29 points in 20 games this season, including a plus-10 rating and one game-winning goal.

San Jose has been off to a slower start than normal this season and sit eighth in the West with a 15-10-5 record.
