Portland Pirates left-winger Tim Kennedy named AHL player of the week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Portland Pirates left-winger Tim Kennedy is the American Hockey League's player of the week after collecting 10 points in four games.

Kennedy scored five goals with five assists and was a plus-5 in helping the Pirates go 2-0-0-2.

The 22-year-old native of Buffalo, N.Y., had his best game Saturday with a goal and three assists in Portland's 6-5 shootout loss to Providence.

He added three goals in a 7-6 shootout win at Lowell on Sunday.

Riendeau and Gougeon named QMJHL players of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Yannick Riendeau and Rimouski Oceanic goaltender Maxim Gougeon were named the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's offensive and defensive players of the week.

Riendeau claimed offensive honours for the second consecutive week, scoring five goals, two of them game-winners, and two assists in three Voltigeurs wins.

He became the first QMJHL player to crack the 100-point mark.

Gougeon posted a 0.48 goals-against-average and .978 save percentage in wins over two of the league's top teams: Quebec and Moncton.
