For the first time in franchise history the Nashville Predators have a 2-0 series lead.
The Preds hung on for a 3-2 win on Sunday night in Anaheim.
According to Elias Sports, teams that take a 2-0 lead on the road in a best of seven hold an all-time series record of 65-18.
Captain Shea Weber scored the winner in the final minute of the second period and Pekka Rinne made 27 saves for the win.
Weber beat John Gibson with a one-timer from the point for his first of the series at 19:21 of the second.
When asked what the 2-0 series lead means, Weber responded, "Nothing yet, to be honest."
He added: "It's a long series. It's a seven-game series for a reason. They're going to come out with an even better effort (Tuesday), so I don't think we can sit back here and dwell on anything we've done so far. It's just going to get harder."
Mattias Ekholm and Craig Smith also scored for the Preds while Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi each had two assists in the win.
The Ducks have now lost three straight at the Honda Center for the first time since Nov. 9-13.
Weber’s goal was one of two with the man advantage on Sunday night while the Ducks were unable to connect on their lone chance.
“You can't fault the refs. We did take some penalties. We were trying to do some things out there, and it is frustrating,” said Ryan Getzlaf. “We've been doing it the hard way all year. We're looking forward to the challenge of Game 3."
Bruce Boudreau believed his club got what it deserved in terms of penalties.
“We don't deserve a break if we're going to yell (at the refs) and be stupid all night long. Controlled emotion was one of our keys,” he said. “The one thing about this team is the resiliency. We've gone through some tough times, and this is no different now."
Nate Thompson got the Ducks to within one with 2:42 remaining in the third, but Anaheim was unable to find the equalizer. Andrew Cogliano had the other goal while Gibson stopped 24 shots.
Boudreau gave Gibson a vote of confidence heading into Game 2, and though the loss wasn't Gibson's fault, it'll be interesting to see if the Ducks make a change in goal to shake things up.
The Detroit Red Wings made a change in goal prior to Game 3 on Sunday and got back into their series with the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 2-0 win.
Game 3 between the Ducks and Preds goes on Tuesday night.
