Hockey is a great game yes; but has better young men.
Taking my mother to the emergency room last night (she's a two-time cancer surgery survivor) I was reminded of an interview from the "Boys on the Bus" video with the Edmonton Oilers and Dr. Randy Gregg when he stated that the men who play this game hold and carry themselves with such dignity that they are every bit as professional as any doctor with whom he had ever worked.
I used to work at the St. Louis Blues' practice facility and the players and their families were always so gracious to all the fans, no matter the situation.
I think we need to remember just how super these families and these young men are who play this great game for our entertainment.
Mr. Walker, Matt Walker's father, was so nice to take time to speak with me, while the Doug Weight's of this game give so much to the communities in each city for which they play. The Jarome Iginla's, the Barret Jackman's - these are great players and better people.
Being in a situation that reminds you of how people carry themselves at a time of crisis and remembering how our NHL players treat their fans - the NHL is the greatest game with even greater people!
Thank you to our players!
