• Minnesota's white-hot start has cooled somewhat in the last couple weeks, with the Wild dropping four of their last six games.

The Canucks also are laboring mightily lately, losing six of their last seven.

What's common between the two?

How 'bout two starting goaltenders (Manny Fernandez and Roberto Luongo) whose save percentages have suffered precipitous declines over the same period of time?

• I'll be co-hosting Leafs Lunch today from 12-2 with good friend and noted lover of completely unnecessary violence, Jeff Marek, on AM 640 in Toronto (you can listen live over the Internet HERE) from 12-2.

Plans are to talk a lot about the Devils, but the way J-S Aubin played in Toronto's 2-1 overtime loss to Boston last night, I suspect we'll be disabusing many callers of any “trade Raycroft immediately” notions for much of the show.

• The Bruins learned a valuable lesson yesterday: stay out of the penalty box, stay in the game. Boston gave up just two man advantages against the Maple Leafs, their lowest total of the season.

• Montreal's David Aebischer hasn't done much wrong this season. But he laid a sizeable egg last night, surrendering four goals on 24 shots before getting the hook after the second period of the Habs' 5-1 loss to Florida.
