Rallo, Sawada score against former team as Stars beat Moose in AHL

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Greg Rallo and Raymond Sawada scored against their former team to lead the Texas Stars to a 5-2 victory over the Manitoba Moose on Tuesday.

Cody Hodgson opened scoring with his 10th goal of the season to give the Moose a 1-0 lead at 6:06 of the first period.

Manitoba's lead turned into a deficit when the Stars (14-8-2) put two chances by Moose goalie Tyler Weiman midway through the second period. Francis Wathier wired a shot by the Moose goalie at 7:28, then 44 seconds later, Stars forward Cody Chupp tucked the puck inside the far post.

Evan Oberg fired a wrist shot by Stars goalie Richard Bachman's shoulder to tie the game at 11:53.

Texas regained the lead at 13:59 when winger Sean Backman jammed a loose puck by Weiman, who had sprawled for the save.

Sawada, who had six goals as a member of the Moose in 2008-09, scored a big goal against them at 3:24 of the third period, converting a Moose turnover in the neutral zone into a partial breakaway before ripping a shot by Weiman's glove hand.

Manitoba (12-9-3) pulled Weiman for an extra attacker when Rallo, another former Moose player, sealed the victory with a goal at 19:53 of the final period.

The Moose outshot the Stars 28-23.
