Rangers' Dubinsky hurts hand in 1st-period fight against Devils, misses rest of game

NEWARK, N.J. - New York Rangers centre Brandon Dubinsky is out for the rest of the game against the New Jersey Devils after injuring his hand during a first-period fight.

Dubinsky dropped the gloves with New Jersey's Ryan Carter 3:03 into Tuesday night's game and skated off the ice following the bout and didn't return—not even to serve his penalty in the box.

It has been a rough week for the 25-year-old Dubinsky, who was benched for the final two periods of a win at Carolina on March 1 because of a foolish penalty he took in the opening period. He returned to the lineup the following night at Tampa Bay, but coach John Tortorella said that Dubinsky would have sat out that game if not for injuries that sidelined other players.

Dubinsky, who scored the tying goal in the third period of New York's loss to Tampa Bay last Friday, managed just two shifts against New Jersey on Tuesday—totalling 42 seconds of ice time.
