Rangers hope to rebound against lowly Islanders
NY Islanders (3-7-1) at NY Rangers (10-3-1), 7:00 p.m. EST
NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers look to bounce back
from a third-period collapse when they host the New York
Islanders on Tuesday.
The Rangers had their four-game winning streak snapped on
Saturday, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Rangers allowed five goals in the final period, all coming
in a 5:19 span over the latter half of the session.
Toronto outshot New York, 17-4, in that third period as
goaltender Steve Valiquette succumbed to the heavy pressure.
Henrik Lundqvist should be back in net against the Islanders.
The Rangers' cross-town rivals are looking to build on some rare
momentum coming off a 4-3 overtime victory against the Columbus
Blue Jackets on Monday. Chris Campoli netted two goals,
including the game-winner at the 3:13 mark of the extra session.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Islanders,
who recovered after squandering a three-goal lead.
The Rangers defeated the Islanders in the first meeting this
season, recording a 4-2 victory on October 27.
