Rangers, Sharks Swap Depth Players

The New York Rangers have acquired forward Nick Merkley from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenseman Anthony Bitetto.

This is solely a depth deal. Merkley has three points in nine games in the NHL this season and has played in 41 games with three teams since getting drafted in the first round in 2015. Bitetto has spent the entire season in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack but has three goals and 31 points in 197 games between the Predators, Wild, Jets and Rangers.
