Rangers sign defenceman Dan Girardi to US$3.1 million, two-year deal

NEW YORK - The New York Rangers and defenceman Dan Girardi agreed on a US$3.1-million, two-year contract extension Saturday.

Girardi, 23, had eight goals with 14 assists in 59 games heading into Saturday's action.

The native of Welland, Ont., had six assists in 34 games for the Rangers last season.
