Red-hot Kesler, Canucks visit Senators

Vancouver (28-21-8) at Ottawa (22-25-9), 7:30 pm EST

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks have found their stride

- thanks largely to the play of Ryan Kesler.

Kesler will attempt to lead the Canucks to their seventh win in

eight games when they face the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

The 24-year-old Kesler netted both a power-play and shorthanded

goal during Tuesday's 4-3 shootout victory over the Calgary

Flames.

Defenseman Kevin Bieksa tallied with 51 seconds remaining in the

third period to tie the game for Vancouver, which had lost its

previous eight contests before this surge.

A first-round selection in 2003, Kesler has recorded nine goals

and 13 points over the last eight games. The center has 18

tallies and 20 assists on the campaign.

The Senators had their season-best, five-game winning streak

snapped with Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Colorado

Avalanche.

Ottawa, which has picked up a point in seven straight contests

(5-0-2), remains 13 points out of the final playoff spot in the

Eastern Conference.
