EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings are off to
their typical strong start and the Edmonton Oilers are well
aware of it.
The Red Wings will look for their fourth straight win when they
face the Oilers on Thursday.
Defending champion Detroit has won three in a row, the last
coming at home on Monday in a 4-0 win over Edmonton. Niklas
Kronwall had a goal and an assist and Henrik Zetterberg added a
pair of assists as Ty Conklin made 21 saves.
Conklin will likely sit and watch as top goaltender Chris Osgood
and his 7-1-3 record make their way back into the crease.
Newcomer Marian Hossa leads the Red Wings with 10 goals and 23
points, including nine points on the power play. Detroit leads
the NHL by a wide margin with the man-advantage, converting 32.4
percent of its opportunities.
Edmonton returns for a rare home game, having played just five
of its 19 contests in front of friendly fans.
The Oilers played at Columbus on Tuesday and exploded after
being shut out by the Red Wings, topping the Blue Jackets, 7-2.
Alex Hemsky had three assists and Dwayne Roloson made 37 saves
in the win.
