Red Wings sign defenceman Andy Delmore to one-year contract

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings have signed free-agent defenceman Andy Delmore to a one-year contract.

The 32-year-old native of LaSalle, Ont., has spent the last two seasons playing for the Hamburg Freezers in Germany. He previously played with Philadelphia, Nashville, Buffalo and Columbus.

Delmore has 101 points and 105 penalty minutes in 283 career NHL games. He won the Eddie Shore Award as the American Hockey League's best defenceman while playing for Syracuse in the 2005-2006 season.
