Regina man has murder charge reduced in U-S case involving university students
REGINA - A Regina man has pleaded not guilty in a U.S. court in the death of a fellow student in Wisconsin.
Jared Britton, 23, faces two charges of aggravated battery after an altercation outside a bar near the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie on Sept. 18.
Bradley Simon, 22, was knocked off his bike, hit his head, and died in hospital.
Britton was originally charged with being party to a felony murder and battery.
He was attending classes and playing hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Britton, who is free on bail but must remain in the U.S., is to appear in court again on Jan. 12.
A pre-trial conference is set for Feb. 18 before a trial date is set.
