Report: Barry Trotz to Take Break from Coaching

Barry Trotz has reportedly told the Winnipeg Jets that he does not intend to coach in the immediate future, but hasn't ruled out coaching down the line.

One of the biggest coaches on the market right now looks ready to take a step back.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Barry Trotz has told the Winnipeg Jets that he does not intend to coach in the immediate future, but would not rule out a return to coaching as a whole. Trotz intends on spending more time with his family, but hasn't ruled out a future in coaching altogether. Trotz was reported to have 

Trotz, who joined the Islanders after winning the 2018 Stanley Cup with Washington, led the team to three playoff runs, but struggled this season in a year plagued by COVID-19 and injuries. He was let go by the Islanders after the season concluded.

A two-time Jack Adams award winner, Trotz had a 152-10-34 record over three seasons with the Islanders, and has a 914-670-168 record in 1,812 career NHL games.
