According to Rich Chere of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello has asked Jamie Langenbrunner to waive his no-trade clause.

Langenbrunner is out of the lineup for Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

"I've been in discussions with the team (about waiving the no-trade clause)," Langenbrunner told paper. "The fact that I'm not there tonight probably means a trade will be happening sooner rather than later."

The Devils are up against the salary cap and shedding Langenbrunner's $2.8 million salary would provide the team with relief.

The 35-year-old, who is eligible for unrestricted free agency July 1, has four goals and 14 points in 31 games with New Jersey this season.
