Report: Habs face fine after icing ineligible player

According to Canadian sports network TSN’s Bob McKenzie, don’t be surprised if the NHL comes down hard on the Montreal Canadiens with a significant fine.

In their game against the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night, the Habs were forced by the league to pull Ryan White from the game in the first period because the Habs didn’t notify them of the recall by the 5 p.m. deadline.

Should White have finished the game, it’s likely Montreal would have had to forfeit their victory.

White, a third round pick of Montreal’s in 2006, has two assists in 13 games this season, after posting 29 points in 80 games with the American League’s Hamilton Bulldogs last season.
