Report: Ovechkin, Semin, Varlamov will play for Russia at World Championship

According to a report in the Washington Post, a number of Capitals will be representing their country at the upcoming World Championship in Germany.

Semyon Varlamov, Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin will all play for Russia, which is playing for its third consecutive gold medal at the annual tournament.

It's expected Brooks Laich and Mike Green will suit up for Team Canada, while Sweden will pick up Nicklas Backstrom and Michael Nylander. Tomas Fleischmann will join the Czech Republic squad.

In the 2009 event, Russia won gold with a 2-1 victory over Canada in the final and Sweden captured bronze.
