Report: John Tortorella to be fired Thursday

Shortly after his predecessor, Alain Vigneault, advanced to the second round of the playoffs with the New York Rangers, John Tortorella is rumored to be getting his pink slip from the Vancouver Canucks as early as today.

Reports out of Vancouver indicate coach John Tortorella will be fired Thursday after just one year as coach for the Canucks. This follows the firing of former GM Mike Gillis who was let go earlier in April.

With Tortorella at the helm Vancouver finished third-worst in the Western Conference and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
