Sabres look to extend streak vs. West

Columbus (7-7-2) at Buffalo (9-3-3) 7:30 p.m. EST

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets hope to

do something no Western Conference team has been able to do this

season, register a regulation victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Buffalo has taken at least a point in all four of its matchups

with West foes and will look to continue that streak when it

faces Columbus on Friday.

The Sabres are 3-0-1 against the West, including a 4-3 win over

St. Louis on Wednesday.

Adam Mair, Tim Connolly and Jason Pominville scored less than

three minutes apart early in the first period to chase Blues

goaltender Manny Legace from the game just 5:18 after the

opening whistle and the Sabres held on for the win.

Buffalo's lone defeat to a team from the West came on October

25, a 2-1, shootout loss to Colorado.

Columbus, which had not won consecutive games over its first 12

contests, had a three-game winning streak snapped in a 5-2 loss

to Phoenix on Wednesday.

Rookie netminder Steve Mason won all three games during the

streak, his first appearances in the NHL, but allowed four goals

on 29 shots against the Coyotes to suffer his first loss.
