Sabres-Rangers game is still on despite flood warnings and power outages

A snowstorm wreaked havoc when it dropped more than 50 centimetres of snow on the city overnight Thursday night. Work crews were continuing efforts to restore power to homes and business on Saturday.

The NHL game is to start at 7 p.m. ET. A flood watch that includes the city is in effect until 8 p.m.

Sabres players were on a road trip when the storm struck, and they flew home late Friday after a 3-2 shootout win over the Red Wings in Detroit.

More than 3,000 Canadians cross the Peace Bridge to attend Sabres games. A state of emergency was in effect Friday in the Ontario municipalities of Fort Erie and Port Colborne as authorities asked people to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
