San Jose Sharks put blue-liner Alexei Semenov on injured reserve

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks put defenceman Alexei Semenov on injured reserve Friday because of a broken finger on his right hand.

Semenov was hurt early in the Sharks' 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. He left the locker room with a heavy wrap on his right hand, particularly the last two fingers.

The six-foot-six Russian defenceman has one goal and two assists in 13 games since signing with the Sharks in the off-season. San Jose, which already has forwards Jonathan Cheechoo and Jeremy Roenick on injured reserve, didn't announce a roster move to fill Semenov's spot.
