San Jose Sharks sign defenceman Rob Blake to one-year deal

SAN JOSE - You can cross Rob Blake's name off the list of available free agents.

The San Jose Sharks have agreed to a US$3.5-million, one-year deal with the veteran defenceman.

Blake would have become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday afternoon.

The 39-year-old is coming off a solid first season in San Jose that saw him rack up 10 goals and 45 points in 73 games. He was also a plus-15.

A former Stanley Cup winner with the Colorado Avalanche, Blake will enter a 20th NHL season.

In 1,200 career games, he has 233 goals and 747 points.
