Schroeder scores winner in third as Moose defeat Griffins 6-5 in AHL

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jordan Schroeder scored the game-winning goal late in the third period as the Manitoba Moose edged the Grand Rapids Griffins 6-5 on Friday in the AHL.

Schroeder and Aaron Volpatti swatted away at a loose puck in the Griffins slot before Schroeder deflecting a shot off a Grand Rapids defenceman to get the go-ahead goal.

Cody Hodgson and Sergei Shirokov each scored twice for the Moose (6-5-1), while Mario Bliznak added a single.

Manitoba's Eddie Lack stopped 26 of 31 shots.

Derek Meech, Jamie Tardif, Tomas Tatar, Ilari Filppula, with two assists, and Brendan Smith each scored for the Griffins (5-3-2), who went 2-for-5 on the power play.

Thomas McCollum made 16 saves.
