Ottawa (22-25-8) at Colorado (26-30-1), 9:30 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators seek their season-best

sixth consecutive victory Tuesday when they visit the Colorado

    Avalanche.

Alex Auld made 24 saves to post his sixth career shutout as

Ottawa skated to a 2-0 triumph over the Nashville Predators on

    Monday.

All-Star Dany Heatley and Nick Foligno scored 8 1/2 minutes

apart in the first period for the streaking Senators, who remain

12 points back of the final playoff spot in the Eastern

    Conference despite the surge.

Ottawa, which has made the postseason in each of previous 11

seasons, improved to 5-1-1 under interim coach Cory Clouston,

who took over when Craig Hartsburg was fired on February 2.

Before Sunday's 6-5 shootout victory over the rival Detroit Red

Wings, the Avalanche were going in the opposite direction.

Colorado, dead last in the Western Conference, had dropped four

straight and eight of its previous 10 contests.

Defenseman Jordan Leopold helped break that trend in the fifth

round of the shootout, improving the Avalanche to 8-1 in games

decided in the bonus format this season.
