Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson could return from knee surgery this weekend

Daniel Alfredsson could return from injury sooner than expected and be in the lineup this weekend.

The captain skated Tuesday and coach Craig Harstburg isn't ruling out an early return. Alfredsson had surgery to remove a bone chip in his right knee last Friday and was originally expected to miss up to two weeks.

Alfredsson missed 12 games with hip, groin and knee injuries last season. He has two assists in two games so far this year.
