Senators hoping for win in Clouston's debut

Los Angeles (20-21-7)_at Ottawa (17-24-7), 7:30 pm EST

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators will not have Craig

Hartsburg to blame if they lose this one.

Cory Clouston will make his debut behind the Senators' bench on

Tuesday, when the team squares off against the Los Angeles

Kings.

Ottawa on Monday finally pulled the plug on Hartsburg, whose job

reportedly had been in jeopardy for weeks. Sitting last in the

Northeast Division, the Senators fired Hartsburg just 48 games

into his first season as the team's coach.

It was the second time in as many seasons that Ottawa fired its

coach during the season.

The coach of the Senators' American Hockey League affiliate in

Binghamton, Clouston will guide the club for the remainder of

the season. Clouston led Binghamton to a 25-16-3 record in his

second season.

Hartsburg's ouster comes one day after the Senators suffered a

7-4 defeat at Washington to drop. Ottawa has lost 17 of its

last 24 games, scored a league-low 116 goals and is 14 points

out of a playoff spot.

The Kings had their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday,

suffering a 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
