Just one week after recording her first professional men’s league win, Shannon Szabados is adding Southern Pro League Player of the Week honors to her trophy case.

Szabados picked up the award for her performance from Nov. 24-30, which included two wins, a 1.49 goals-against average, and .963 save percentage. She didn’t stop there, however, adding an assist on the game-winning goal as her Columbus Cottonmouths downed the Fayetteville FireAntz 2-1 in overtime. She's the first woman to take home the honors.

Over the course of her two wins, Szabados registered 77 saves on 80 shots against, including a 42 save performance in a 3-2 win over the Mississippi RiverKings.

Szabados signed with the Cottonmouths late in the 2013-14 campaign, but failed to pick up her first win until Nov. 21 of this season. The win, a 5-4 overtime victory over the FireAntz, made her the first female goaltender to win a game in the league.

With a record of 3-2 on the season, Szabados has a better winning percentage than her goaltending partner Andrew Loewen, who has a record of 3-5.

One of the most decorated athletes in Canadian international hockey history, Szabados has picked up 11 gold medals in her international career, which includes two Olympic golds, to go along with six silvers.
