Sharks look to rebound from rare loss against Hurricanes

Carolina (25-22-5) at San Jose (36-7-5), 10:30 p.m. EST

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks find

themselves in a rare predicament - needing to rebound from a

setback at HP Pavilion.

Coming off a deflating loss, the Sharks look to bounce back on

their home ice when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on

Thursday.

Evgeni Nabokov surrendered up four goals after giving up just

one in his previous three games in San Jose's 4-2 setback to the

Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.

The Sharks fell to 23-2-2 at home this season, and are 31-2-3 in

their last 36 games at HP Pavilion.

Carolina began its current three-game road trip with a 4-3 loss

to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Despite scoring two or

fewer goals in 27 of its last 40 games, the Hurricanes still

find themselves in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff

picture.

Prior to falling to Vancouver, Carolina had won four of five - a

stretch that followed a five-game skid.

Cam Ward has been solid in net, surrendering three or fewer

goals in seven of his last 10 appearances.
