Showing their stripes

Dr. Monty Gaur, Calgary

I wish to give credit where it is due. On two separate occasions, while travelling with my family, we have had the opportunity to meet NHL on-ice officials in airports.

Last year, it was Jay Sharrers and, more recently, it was Brad Meier and Don Henderson. Both times, the officials took moments out of their busy schedules to query my children about their interests personally and in the game.

The lasting impression created will now mean that the children will watch for their new acquaintances as well as their favorite players during television broadcasts and live games.

Congratulations to the Officials’ Association on how their members conduct themselves in yet another method of promoting the game.
